From the time I can remember, I was ostracized by my peers. I was called a sissy, a queer, and a faggot. I spent quite a bit of time alone growing up for fear of being rejected. I became involved with drugs early in life, and began frequenting gay bars when I became an adult. I lived a very promiscuous life for several years until I met my former partner. I was in a homosexual relationship with him for over 17 years.
After he left, my life as I knew it fell apart. I lost my business, my home, all of my material possessions. After complete brokenness I surrendered my life to Jesus and became a born again believer. My journey has been a difficult one, as it is for everyone. However, the Lord has been with me every step of the way. The keys to my recovery have been to trust God, and to resist the devil.
The Bible tells us to work out our own salvation with fear and trembling (Philippians 2:12-13), so I have spent a great deal of time reading and studying the Scriptures to make sure I am on the right path. The Scriptures tell us that in the beginning God gave us the union of man and woman (Genesis 2:24), which Jesus confirmed as well (Matthew 19:4-6). So then since marriage is intended for a man and woman, sexual intercourse outside of this union, whether it be a man and woman, a man and man, or a woman and woman, would be considered fornication. Fornication is defined as consensual sexual intercourse between two people not married to each other, and someone who commits fornication is a fornicator. According to the Bible, fornicators will not inherit the kingdom of God (1 Corinthians 6:9-10).
The world in its wisdom, however, has chosen to ignore these facts, and has decided that same sex relationships and same sex marriage are appropriate. Some churches and clergy have lied and twisted the word of God to deceive many, and more are following. This should come as no surprise since we were warned of this (2 Peter 2:1-2). We are told to test the spirits to see if they are of God (1 John 4:1). The Spirit of God will not lead us in a direction that is contradictory to the word of God, but in truth (John 16:13). Only the devil contradicts the word of God (Genesis 3:2-5). Therefore, we must be wise as serpents and harmless as doves (Matthew 10:16).
